Will Schebaum
Will approaches the world of design from a multi faceted vantage point. After studying whole systems philosophy, music and comparative religion at the University of Vermont, Will immersed himself in the Vermont building scene. With Liszt Historical Restoration, he worked on numerous Vermont landmarks such as the Vermont State House, Chittenden Superior Courthouse, Vermont History Center as well as many classic homes, country barns and other notable landmark buildings. After a stint founding and touring with Burlington music group, Manifest Nexto Me, Will then became immersed in the world of facilities management at City Market’s flagship store in downtown Burlington. There he engaged in whole building thinking and initiated various efficiency measures such as their rooftop solar array. A growing awareness of the ecological reality and humanity’s place in the larger biosphere helped curate a new path in residential carpentry. Working with a number of esteemed Burlington firms such as Red House Building and VanDusen & Co. eventually led to a design/build internship at Yestermorrow Design+Build School. This pivotal event was critical in Will’s migration from a Burlington centric life to one based in his current hometown of Montpelier. Upon arriving in Montpelier in 2009 will created Steeplechase Design& Build which operated for a number of years designing and building in the greater Winooski River watershed. Ten years later saw the creation of Threshold Building and Design which over the course of a few years evolved into the Threshold Design of today. When not in the office, Will spends his time with his wonderful family, a guitar or silence in the woods.
